Our Work
We are just getting started and will add more information as we grow.
TNR ~ Trap-Neuter-Return
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is a humane and effective way to manage and care for feral and community cats. Through this process, cats are safely trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and then returned to their outdoor home where they are monitored and cared for.
TNR helps break the cycle of overpopulation, reduces nuisance behaviors like fighting and spraying, and improves the overall health of the colony. Cats who have been through TNR are ear-tipped—a universal sign that they have been altered and vaccinated.
Most cats are returned to their colony. In some cases, when a colony cannot be sufficiently supported or safely maintained, we work to relocate cats into appropriate environments picking cats from the colony who can be placed through our Barn Cat Program, where they can live safely as working cats while still receiving care. In addition, kittens discovered during the process or born after their mom is trapped are socialized and made available for adoption..
At Cedar Hill Animal Rescue, TNR is at the heart of what we do. By working alongside our community, we are creating safer, healthier environments for both animals and people—one colony at a time.
Barn Cat Program
Not every cat is suited for indoor life—but that doesn’t mean they don’t deserve safety, care, and a purpose. Our Barn Cat Program provides a solution for feral or semi-feral cats by placing them in safe outdoor homes where they can thrive as working cats.
These cats are ideal for barns, shops, or properties needing natural rodent control. Each cat in our program has been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and dewormed, and is also ear-tipped and tattooed for identification in case they stray from their new location.
All barn cats are adopted in pairs. Research and experience show that placing cats in pairs greatly increases their success. Cats are social animals, and having a companion helps reduce stress, prevents loneliness, and encourages them to stay close to their new home rather than roaming or attempting to return to their original territory. Paired cats also tend to acclimate more quickly and provide more effective rodent control together.
To set both the cats and adopters up for success, we provide detailed acclimation and retention instructions, along with starter supplies to help them settle into their new environment. If additional supplies are needed, we are happy to assist adopters with continued support.
Our goal is to ensure these cats have a safe place to live while continuing to receive care and protection. With the right setup and commitment, barn cats become an important and valued part of your property.
R&R ~ Rescued and Rehomed
At Cedar Hill Animal Rescue, we believe every animal deserves a chance at life and love. Sometimes shelters become overcrowded, resources run thin, and heartbreaking decisions have to be made. When animals run out of time through no fault of their own, we step in whenever we can. Through our R&R program, we work to pull at-risk animals from shelters and give them a second chance.
Once rescued, these animals receive the care, safety, and compassion they deserve while we search for loving forever homes. Many simply needed someone to say “yes” before it was too late. Every adoption through this program represents hope: a life saved, a shelter given a little more space to help others, and a family gaining a loyal companion.
We are committed to helping as many as possible — one life at a time. Together, we can turn last chances into new beginnings.
